Samsung has just launched the Galaxy Ring, a new addition to the growing market of connected rings. This innovative device is designed for advanced health monitoring, but it comes with a hefty price tag. The Galaxy Ring, available in nine sizes and three colors (matte black, matte silver, and shiny gold), is crafted from durable titanium. It aims to become the leader in its category by offering precise data collection through sensors that track heart rate, GPS, sleep patterns, and temperature.
Features and Functionality
The Galaxy Ring distinguishes itself with its compact, non-intrusive design that focuses solely on health monitoring. Unlike smartwatches, it does not display notifications, make calls, or support NFC payments. However, it boasts a significant battery life of up to seven days and is water-resistant up to 100 meters (10 ATM), making it suitable for swimming and everyday activities.
Health and Fitness Tracking
Samsung’s new ring is equipped to continuously monitor heart health, stress levels, sleep cycles, and even women’s health. It syncs with the Samsung Health app to provide comprehensive health insights, personalized wellness plans, and daily energy scores. The Galaxy Ring also enhances data accuracy when paired with a Galaxy Watch and can detect the start of physical activities like walking or running.
Gesture Controls and Additional Features
The ring includes basic gesture controls, such as stopping alarms or taking photos with a hand gesture. Additionally, the « Find My Ring » feature ensures users can locate the device if misplaced.
Availability and Pricing
Set to be released in the summer of 2024, the Galaxy Ring will retail for €449, including a protective and charging case. This launch marks Samsung’s first major innovation in years, aiming to transform personal health care with cutting-edge wearable technology.
