The phone is designed to take over the Realme in India. Well, it is not launched in India yet, but its prices in China is very competitive for Realme in India.
After separating from Xiaomi, Redmi Note 7 is the first phone from the parent company. The phone is launched in China today at a starting price of
999 Yuan (~$147) approx. Rs.10,365. The main highlight of this phone is its rear camera with 48MP Samsung sensor as a primary and 5MP secondary camera sensor.
Starting with its design, it is made of a metal body with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection on the front as well as the backside of the phone. For its toughness, Redmi has tag-lined it with “rock solid and diamond-like” durable body. The company has provided extra protection on its corner with a microcrack polishing process, which adds more durability to the corner of the phone.
Redmi has also mentioned its drop protection performance as it is four times more stronger than any other competitor in the market. The phone is also water-resistance and dust proof, but no IP rating is mentioned on company’s official website. To make it water resistance, its buttons and ports are specially designed.
It features a 6.3-inch display with 19:5:9 aspect ratio and 1080 x 2340 pixels resolutions. Interestingly, Redmi has managed to reduce the size of the bezels with 1.95mm on all edges. There is a waterdrop notch only on the display, no other sensors or speakers are placed on the front side of the phone. Adding some more details to the display, it has 450nits of brightness, 1500:1 of contrast ratio and eye protection mode.
For performance, it is powered by Snapdragon 660 SoC coupled with 3/4/6GB of RAM and 32/64/128GB internal storage. Internal storage is expandable up to 256GB with external MicroSD card.
On the optic side, it has a dual rear camera in the verticle position, in which there is a 48MP primary Samsung ISOCELL GM1 sensor with f/1.8 aperture and 5MP secondary camera sensor. On the front side, it has 13MP camera sensor with AI face beauty and face unlock system.

The phone is launched in three variants in terms of RAM and internal storage. The first variant with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage is priced 999 Yuan (~$147) approx Rs.10365. 4GB/64GB variant is priced 1,119 Yuan (~$177) approx Rs.12461 and 6GB/128GB variant 1399 Yuan (~$206) approx Rs. 14503. There is no details available about when this phone is going to available in India.
